If you have yet to experience the city during the holidays, I've highlighted some annual traditions to sample throughout the season.
Starting with Thankful Thursdays throughout November, you can participate in various activities as part of Be Kind Month at Valley View Recreation Center.
On November 17, join a night of pre-Thanksgiving Harvest Festival fun at Black Mountain Recreation Center. The event features carnival games, candy apples, apple cider, and a scarecrow craft activity during the special kid-friendly event.
And for those who love a good Christmas tree, you will find several tree-lighting events throughout the city.
The District at Green Valley Ranch hosts its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on Saturday, November 18, with special guests: the Sugarplum Fairy, The Nutcracker, and Jolly St. Nick. Participants can indulge in treats and enjoy live music.
For an old-county event, visit the Village at Lake Las Vegas for its Celtic Christmas on November 18. As part of the community's annual Christmas tree lighting, enjoy the musical talent of Annie Meadows while drinking free hot chocolate.
Downtown Henderson's annual two-day WinterFest starts Thursday, November 30, with a tree-lighting ceremony and a brand-new drone show. The Lights Parade travels down Water Street on Friday with unique holiday floats and entertainment.
Your four-legged family members can join the festivities as part of Merry Grinchmas at Heritage Bark Park. The event features pop-up agility courses, festive treats, and photos with the Grinch on Friday, December 1. The District at Green Valley hosts its Pet Party with Santa on December 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Work off those holiday treats by donning your most cheerful holiday costume or ugly holiday sweater for the annual Reindeer Dash 5K run and 1-mile walk. The fun run occurs on Saturday, December 16, at Cornerstone Park.
