The gabled roof is a timeless architectural feature.
Traditionally found in cooler climates, the iconic style will debut in the warm Vegas luxury market
later this year.
Known as the Gable Box, the dramatic exterior design is planned for a custom seven-bedroom, two-
story contemporary estate in the prestigious Northwest community, Estates at Lone Mountain. The
project is a collaboration between Architect Robert F. Tyler of RFT Design and Developer Kris
Templeton of Templeton Development Corp.
“We wanted to create a contemporary exterior with a strong aesthetic,” said Robert. “The gabled
roof is a powerful architectural feature.”
Kris drew inspiration for the unique exterior from his years at his family's cabin in Utah.
“Gable roofs and vaulted ceilings are often found in mountain homes,” said Kris. “Our goal was to
bring that warm, elevated mountain modern style to Las Vegas in a fresh and distinctive way.”
The innovative gabled design features cleaner lines than a traditional gable roof, framed by inset
windows.
The facade is enhanced by stone, metal, and wood accents.
The striking exterior sets the tone for the sophisticated interior designed by Templeton.
A front courtyard adds visual interest to the entrance, leading to an expansive great room with
vaulted ceilings. The airy space allows natural light to flow throughout. The open concept design
features a sleek kitchen on one side. A large central island serves as both a prep station and a
gathering spot. Hidden prep spaces, including a prep kitchen, butler’s pantry, and storage, create an
ideal entertainer’s experience. An intimate formal dining room is off the main kitchen with easy
access to the prep spaces.
From the main kitchen, a drop zone connects the culinary space to the four-car garage for added
flexibility and convenience.
On the other side of the great room is an expansive wine room, an office, and the main bedroom
wing with three ensuite bedrooms.
The primary suite is separated by a private hallway, creating a stylish sanctuary. The suite’s bath
includes a his-and-her area and a main bathroom with an oversized shower and bath combination
that opens to an exterior shower.
The two-level home functions as a single story, with all main living spaces on the lower level.
The upper level includes a loft and three ensuite bedrooms. The exterior features an oversized
detached RV garage with an attached game room.
The team recently completed construction documents and has submitted building for permits.
Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of January, with the final completion date to be
determined.
The Estates at Lone Mountain is a 40-acre luxury custom home development at the base of Lone
Mountain in the Northwest. Developed by Templeton Development, the community features one-
acre, ¾-acre and half-acre homesites.
These various-sized home sites give buyers options for purchasing a custom spec home. They can
opt for an estate-style home on a one-acre or three-quarter-acre site with their own architect and
builder or choose a spec-built property designed by Templeton. There are also two half-acre gated
neighborhoods with a total of 18 home sites. Next year, Templeton plans to open a third half-acre
community with an additional 39 home sites.
Templeton’s turn-key spec homes feel highly customized. Along with high-quality interior finishes
and features, exterior landscaping and amenities play a vital role in the design. Every yard is fully
landscaped and distinct from its neighbors. All yards feature a pool, a spa, an outdoor shower, RV
parking, an outdoor kitchen and mature landscaping.
The Estates home sites are construction-ready, with required infrastructure, grading, and all utilities
stubbed to each lot. Templeton completed all off-site work, eliminating the need for owners to
assess SIDS or LIDS. There is a minimal $180 monthly HOA to maintain the landscaping and trail
system surrounding the homes.
